This is one of those where the hell have I been moments. I love, love, love, love Tessa Bailey's writing and when I first saw this book months ago I was obsessed. I requested an arc and was devastated when they rejected me because it meant I had to wait forever to read it. And then as it dropped further down my TBR I got distracted and forgot about it.
Then yesterday I was looking for the perfect read to help block out the real life dramas and this popped up. And BAM Tessa Bailey bubble activated. Despite a serious lack of sleep recently I couldn't have put this down if the house was on fire.
Georgie and Travis were perfect. Both together and separately. Of course Travis was possessive, jealous, growling, dirty talking and I loved him from the first. But having his point of view made me love him more even harder. And when he came to her defense I couldn't have been happier.
The only thing that I didn't love was the ending. I would have killed for an epilogue but I am hoping we will catch up with them down the road as we get more couples. And honestly I was so in this book the whole time I was reading it that I don't think I could ever get enough. And now I am off to stalk a release date for the next book because I am thinking they are going to be even hotter and Dom is going to be even more alpha. Can't wait.
These two people have issues - Family issues. Career issues... As their maybe real, then sort-of fake, then definitely real (and totally HOT) relationship develops, they learn that together they can grow and evolve and move forward and face their stuff together. It's delightfully sweet and satisfying to go on that journey with them.
Tessa Bailey's writing is always great and this is a longer read, allowing for a satisfyingly broad cast of characters to support Travis and Georgie as they work their way to their HEA. Highly recommended!
Finishing this book reminds me why Tessa Bailey is Queen, I have always loved Tessa’s writing style it makes you laugh, cry and wanting to throw your book but you never would. This story is no different I loved Travis and Georgie’s book its brilliant thank you Tessa 😍
I'm so glad I've found this author. This book is amazing and the characters really jump off the page. Follow your dreams ladies, support each other and have faith and confidence in yourself to achieve anything.
I barely even read the blurb, and it didn't matter. This book was excellent. Well developed characters, fun banter, beautiful friendships that boldly push you to your goals. Just Us League is fantastic, as are Georgie & Travis.
Travis Ford moves back to his hometown Fort Jefferson after an injury ends his baseball league career. Seeing his future implode before his eyes, he has no immediate plans apart from drinking himself into a coma.
Georgie Castle is Fort Jefferson’s resident party clown extraordinaire; literally. Being the youngest of the Castle siblings, Georgie is used to being belittled and overlooked by her family. Even as a party planning businesswoman; no one really takes her seriously. That is until Travis Ford returns to town.
With everybody handling Travis with kid gloves, Georgie takes it upon herself to draw him out of his slump. Even though he doesn’t appreciate her meddling, he can’t help but be impressed by her, although it’s evident that nobody else is.
“They could be friends, him and Georgie. That’s what was wrong. He didn’t want one-especially her. She was too young, too positive, and too related to his best friend.”
When Travis lets her down, its just another thing to add to her never-ending list of disappointments. Except this one hurts the most…
“The pressure in her chest had been growing stronger since this afternoon. By now, it felt like a pair of pliers was digging into her heart. God, I’m such an idiot.”
As both realize they have questionable reputations, they decide to enter a fake relationship to achieve their lifetime goals. There is no questioning that Travis and Georgie have undeniable chemistry, but can they overcome their hang-ups to admit that they can be more then friends?
Fix Her Up is a friend to lovers’ romantic comedy but with more depth then you would expect from this trope. Both characters were witty, compassionate and hot together. With Travis’s dirty talk and Georgie’s laugh out loud personality, these two burned up the pages and kept me smiling.
“I want your hands all over me. Your mouth on mine. And next time you get out of bed without giving me both, I’m going to find you, pull your pants down, and backhand that little tush you had tucked up in my lap all night. We clear?”
‘Arc’ provided by Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
4.5 stars! I loved so many things about this book, the evolution of Georgie and her family, her fight to be seen as more than the youngest Castle sibling was emotional and I loved how the relationships developed. But more, I loved the way she knocked Travis clear off his feet and helped him to see himself differently. This book was so well written and the perfect blend of humour and light drama. I cannot wait for the next book!
Listen, all you have to say is 1) Tessa Bailey; 2) fake dating, and; 3) best friend's little sister, and I'm there.
This was a cute read with some good emotional depth - Travis is a former MLB All Star whose career was cut short due to injury, and he has daddy issues, while Georgie is the youngest sibling in a family that won't take her seriously - and a fun cast of supporting characters. We were introduced to the couple in the sequel here and I can taste the delicious angst already.
Sidenote - I'm super here for the recent illustrated cover trend that's been taking over romance of late.
