I hesitated to buy this book because, though I adore Chip and Joanna, their previous books left a little to be desired. I’m really not sure why Joanna wrote this book other than, perhaps the money. The Magnolia blog is a pleasure to read with gorgeous, crisp photography and well thought out posts. This book, on the other hand, has pathetically artistic photography and below average recipes. No doubt because of the 21st Century phenomenon of “Celebrity” this book will make the New York Times Bestseller’s list but, is it worthy ? Absolutely not !!!
I'm a huge fan of Joanna Gaines and spend waaaay too much time ogling the beautiful treats on Magnolia, and fantasizing about travelling to Waco. Until I get there, Magnolia Table is tiding me over. The book is a love letter and a celebration of family cooking and Southern Food. So far I've attempted the Cinnamon Squares, which are TO DIE FOR. I'm looking forward to trying a few more. *Handy tip* take the food into work, lest you're tempted to scoff the lot.
Love this book. Firstly. Joanna Gaines. And then, it's loads of heartwarming pics of food and home, and then the recipes are just back to heartland cooking which I love. Easy but with a bit of something special. It's worth it for the Lemon Pie recipe alone!
