This book is absolutely terrific for people who are just starting to think about investing, it is written down with minimal technical language, reads in a very casual but informative way and provides plenty of interesting commentary on historical events.
The book does not teach someone how to make millions but rather recommends a patient attitude to achieve long term sustainable growth. It emphasizes caution and establishes the market as a means to supplement income rather than being the primary source.
Absolutely recommended for those who want to get a little more out of their savings and those who are starting to look into investing.
A right of passage for all investors of the value persuasion. The style of writing from that period can be a drag and hard to read at times. I found the updates etc from Jason Zewig to be helpful. The whole book can be boiled down to Mr Market and Margin of Safety basically.
Love this book! Learnt so much about becoming an investor. Its not complicated to understand even if you don't know anything about investing in the stockmarket. Warren buffett the worlds richest investor is spot on about this book being the best book on investment.
Intelligent Investor gives an excellent framework for understanding how to approach your investment decisions. The analogy of Mr Market helps make the complex world of the stock market much more easier to comprehend.
Excellent book, but can be pretty dry at points. Best listened to in shorter sessions rather than hours on end. Be prepared to hit that rewind 30 button often after zoning out if listening at length! I find the Chapter commentary (Rev Ed.) to be essential and gives reinforcement/updated perspective to Graham's ideas.
