McKee writes so eloquently. There are times when it is so eloquent that it threatens to detract from his actual instruction. I had to read it twice to digest the content. I will read it a third time impromptu, to better enjoy. However, from retrospect if it was such a good book I wouldn't have to read it three times and I often find academic books easy to read. McKee gives good insight into screenwriting, it's just the way he explains things that at times seem superfluous to description.
McKee's book is essential reading for anyone serious about writing. He is the master of structure and cuts through the garbage to give clear advice on what a story is, how it will be read, and it's value from an 'in principle' standpoint. He is also so readable. I would highly recommend this book. Anne
