Story of Heroes
8 October 2015
Courtney family saga full of danger, action, and intrigue. There are echoes of pirate tales and of Napoleonic naval books, of African adventure and of British Empire colonialism. There are aspects of religious conflict, of slave trading, of piracy and hunting of snares and rescues, of sea battles and duels. Essentially it should have something for every reader of action adventure. I especially enjoyed the descriptions of Zanzibar; with its colourful cauldron of humanity where the blood of Europeans, Bantu and Arabs mingle. The atmosphere
and aromas amongst a cacophony of shouting voices, just added so much colour and life. However the ending was a let down for me as
the heroine so uplifted in the story suddenly becomes incapable of defending herself?
