If you only buy one rock & roll book in your life, this is it! I bought this kindle book a while ago & its a keeper i never planned to remove. Pretty sure i rated it then but not sure as one day there was an update for it and i thought kool & promptly downloaded it. I cant say exactly what the differences were but think a few 'sexy times' were missing. Cant remeber exactly what else was missing or altered but think it made the book a tiny bit less for it. Needless to say i loved reading it again as i love Slash and GnR when him and Duff were still with them. When they left it was a joke, it was not Guns n Roses anymore but Axl "fat & singing like mickey mouse" and complete strangers to me, & some weirdo with a face mask on and a kfc bucket on his head and would do spontaneous robot moves that i cant wrap my head around the old axl accepting as a representation of GnR? would say it was a joke but it wasnt remotely funny. Firstly, thankyou Slash - Saul for writing your book in the way in which you did. You made yourself very vulnerable and literally bared your soul for us to read. I adored reading about your youth very much, i dont know if it was intended or a by product but i found it endearingly funny at many times. I could see it all playing out in a movie in my head. The wtf expression's on your face, the chasing by cops on bmx bikes..the vomit pot party so many things but wont list them in case of spoilers. I loved how from start to end, despite so many bad things and bad people did things to you..& you really could have gone off on angry tangent as many would have done, and youd sum it all up saying "they made things interesting" lol. Your views on life were one of a kind..many who could have had your life would not have even been alive as long as you did, the way you could shrug some things off really made me see the truth of the saying of "don't sweat the small stuff". And make me see my own life in a whole new way and i imagine so for many others. So if any haters hate their the minority. Your mind is a beautiful crazy humourous place to see the inner workings of, & i can honestly say im honoured to have been able to get a personal tour and narrator of Planet Slash :o) Im so glad that when all the crap happened within the music industry you didn't let it hold you back and put out the spark within you for your love of guitar and your musical creativity and passion. On tv we never heard much from you other than a softly spoken, shy but gorgeous man. So learning so much about you was a real treat. I could go on and on about how much i loved you your book your music your life! But i must have an end, & as things are at present i heard you are divorcing Perla and back with a girlfriend from the past. Since this book on kindle had an update to download for free i hoped it would have extra material giving us an update on your life at present but not to be. I applaud you for doing what you wanted for once, not suffering in misery in silence. You deserve happiness by the truckload so i am glad to hear you are happy and in love again. I hope the divorce could be as quick and painless as possible. I've briefly seen some reports of her getting INSANE amounts of your money, in a massive chunk, plus her living money then thousands of dollars a month for your children. Children do not require that amount of money a month, they just dont. And all this money is YOURS, all the touring, all the stress it took on you physically mentally and emotionally having to put up with that selfish prick Axl. The fears of him not turning up & there being riots. It was your blood sweat and tears that earned all that and its sickening she just gets all that on a silver platter! And she gets that until she remarries? Which will be never why do that when she gets millions doing nothing. In that respect America is completely crazy. Wish you had gotten the prenup with her? Really it saved you with Renee, i just don't understand. Your too kind for your own good. I know youve never really cared about materialistic things, but at your stage and age in life you need to do it smart, fight back please! Hope your life from here on out is beautiful, you deserve it!
GnR had the biggest impact on my life. Appetite for destruction was the soundtrack to my senior years at school and Use your illusions was imprinted on my soul over the following wild years. I listened to those records continuously for years. It has taken me a while to read this book and now very glad that I have.
SLASH IS THE REASON FOR THE GUITAR. THE AMAZING SOLO'S SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES. BEING A BIG G'N'R FAN THIS WAS A NO BRAINER TO BUY. A GREAT INSITE TO HIS LIFE & THE REASON BEHIND THE CONFLICTS OF G'N'R ANSWEARS A LOT OF QUESTIONS. GREAT READ, GREAT PLAYER.
