This entry is awash with space combat. Combat in the system is weird what with magic, tech and skills all making for a battlefield that would try the sanity of any modern general. The system mechanics places unique challenges before the characters. Information is available for purchase and this means that plans and secrets aren't. Like I said confusing and fun to read about. John's annoying traits are toned down in this entry. Could be his character is finally maturing. The different skills and abilities make for some great conflict especially when master classes throw down. Some master classes are amusing. Who would have thought that a master class poet would be vital to a station's defence? The politics of the system are still in the background driving events so this series still has plenty of legs. What is the system? As this series has unfolded we get closer to an answer.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be checking out the authors other books looking for more of the same. Although I personally preferred the story when it was based on Earth, this is still a fast and exciting read, with plenty of action.
This series keeps on rocking. A little slow at the start, it soon picks up the piece with almost continuous action as our hero gets drawn into a major conflict. Earth has been left far behind, with a much broader view of the galaxy and controlling system now at the forefront. Whether it’s battling space-monsters, ship-battles, tackling masterclassers or full on fleet battles, this one has it all. Well written as always, the action is top of the line with amazing powers, twists and surprises keeping you glued to the pages. At times I get frustrated with the MC’s character build, but then so does he and you can’t help thinking he’s still going to end up somewhere amazing. A great read!
Another great addition in the system apocalypse series. Epic space battles, morally ambiguous governments and rebels along with a healthy dose of weird system interactions makes great reading. Looking forward to next installment
