Excelent entry. Casmir's record for acquiring allies, baffling friends and enemies alike and general geniusness, such a word does exist! is unbroken. The team is split up so we get several threads before everyone assembles for the showdown. The banter is fast and funny, the names of characters are torn straight from the pulps, 12 toes, laser and Moonrazor for example. Zee the giant crusher is developing a personality and is the sanist person in the room. We also get a look at just who made the wormhole gate system. This raises some more questions I won't be asking here for fear of spoilers. I'm looking forward to finding out what future adventures are in store for this weird and wonderful group.
Adventure, romance, fun interactions, people being people while engaged in epic adventures and danger. Terrific series and I love that it has all this without swearing. Excellent writing in every way. So looking forward to the next one in November.
Casmir finds himself in the centre of trouble again! Everyone’s here in this adventure but some are in different locations. There are a couple of family and other reunions. The Kingdom fleet is chasing after the Gate parts. The Astroshamans have them but their base is under a kilometre of ice making it difficult to access. Everyone realises that Casmir is probably the only person who can render the pseudo radiation in the Gate inert. It doesn’t make for a comfortable life! This is especially so when other systems find out about the Gate and decide that they want a piece of it. Lots of action with Casmir being his usual quirky self.
I enjoy this authors books, mostly for the banter between the characters, although some of the other series are better than this series in that regard. You need to read the books in the correct order otherwise you will not know what is going on. Enjoyable for all ages as there is very little bad language, maybe a little blood and guts and the sexual side is mostly just induendo. The characters are easy to like and you want to keep ready to find out what happens to them. I found it an enjoyable read all round.
Lindsay Buroker never fails to deliver characters with personality galore, and banter between them which has you alternating between smiles, chuckles and belly laughs. This book is no exception; great entertainment value. What found new and different about this one was the increased suspense in the many plot twists... a great read, didn’t want to put it down. Can’t wait for the next book!
