I mean, any book that has a chance of having a bit of Thatch time (I know, I know it is not all about him) is a great start to the day.
Milo and Maybe's story didn't start out great for me (and this is more to do with me and my state of mind than the book) and the first 20% I was not enthralled with, however after that I couldn't wait to turn each page.
It was cute and adorable watching as Milo struggled with his feelings for his best friend's little sister, and was fun following along as this pair fall for each other. The text messages are funny and made me laugh out loud at times.
I caught a few Fifty Shades / Ana and Christian vibes in this story too - don't know if anyone else will but there were a couple of things throughout.
It was great to see more of Trent and Greer, and Emory and Quincy from the first book. And oooh myyyy goodness Cap was hilarious (especially at times with my man Thatch). We will be getting Cap's story soon, and man I can not wait to be taken on the ride when he finally finds the woman who brings him to his knees - figuratively and literally!
I want to know how Max Monroe continue to be soo funny and keep their storyline’s from becoming cliche.
Maybe is hilariously awkward. When her confidence comes out she has her families funny streak, which is a crack up. I loved that her dads name was Bruce Willis too- one of the first things I laughed out loud to.
Milo is a sweet heart, and while he first though of Evan’s little sister a still 13 years old, once he realised who she was he knew there was no way of keeping away.
I really loved Lena too- she kind of felt like the editor of this story, pushing it in the right direction but hoping for the best. I would love to see her story one day.
I will admit, that the first 10-15% of this book had me thinking I was going to dislike it, and get really frustrated with the characters. Plus I really am not a fan of weirdly name characters in books (Maybe? I know its a nickname, but it still annoyed me haha). But once I pushed through that, and got to the real start of the story, where things begin to get more meaty, I found myself really enjoying it.
Milo and Maybe are pretty cool characters, and I found myself enjoying the banter between them and also their friends. Can you say "Hiiiiii Thatch!" and Cap is back too! And Maybe befriends a funky girl named Lena. With both our main characters having really quirky besties, it makes from some quite hilarious scenes.
Now, best friends little sister/brothers best friend books are one of my fave tropes in the romance genre, and I liked the way that this one is done. Milo is a stand-up guy. He's got his life together, and he's actually a decent person. I liked the connection he had with Maybe (especially after that first awkward meeting), and I enjoyed his internal thoughts.
Maybe is a bit of rambling and nervous kind of girl, but she also shows some straight up determination which is a great mix, and works well for her character.
I loved our scenes with their friends, the banter in those parts was hilarious, and I CANNOT WAIT for Cap's book. Hoooo-eee! That's gonna be a fun one, me-thinks!
Once I got into it, this was a really fun and easy to read book, that I found myself wanting to pick back up each time I had to put it down. I really looked forward to seeing how it would play out.
I absolutely loved My Brother’s Billionaire Best Friend! RomCom master duo Max Monroe have done it again with this hilarious story. Mabel (Maybe) Willis wishes she could die after sending the most embarrassing text message ever to Milo Ives (her longest, deepest, most wildly inappropriate crush) who is also her brother’s best friend. The texting incident makes her wish for things she hasn’t experienced yet. Even though Maybe wishes she could take it all back this could actually end up going in her favour. Maybe’s brother asks Milo to do him a favour and help her with her career and Milo is more than happy to help out. The texts, the friendship, the attraction they share - it’s kind of complicated that they’re maybe more than friends when a relationship between them is so off-limits… I laughed and I cried (because I laughed so much) because this book was honestly that hilarious. Maybe and Milo are really the most adorable characters. The cameos from Thatch and Cap were absolutely priceless. Maybe’s dad Bruce Willis was also a seriously interesting character too as well as Lena. Even crazy Cassie could be heard in the background...
Every time I pick up a Max Monroe book I know I am going to enjoy it. This writing duo work just so well together. To say I laughed myself silly in this book would be an understatement. I happened to be sneaking in a quick read at work when I first started the book and read about Die Hard 9. Even now when I am writing about it I am laughing. Maybe (Mabel) and Milo's story really did give me all the feels. Yes it was ridiculously funny, but at the heart of it this book was just a wonderful romance novel. There were highs and lows, my heart stumbled and then beat furiously after every chapter. Now Caplin's book is up next and I just know it's going to be a doozy. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
Max Monroe write romantic comedies, and they do both really well. In this book, they have balanced the humour so well with the more naive heroine. Maybe is gorgeous: weird without apologies, intuitive, hilariously naive. Milo is her perfect other half and watching them come together is beautiful. There is also less riotous humour and less between the sheets description, which fits perfectly with the story's vibe and tells me that Max Monroe are authors who care about their story and their characters, and are good enough authors to write the way the story deserves. Loved it.
This standalone story was awesome!! Max Monroe have a way of writing that feels like you are right there with their characters. Like they are actual people and speak in your language. I’ve actually never come across another author who can do it the way they do! Milo and Maybe are all kinds of cute right from the start and they only get better as the storyline continues. A definite 5 star recommendation from me!!
I really like Maybe and Milo. This book has a great story line. It's a funny romantic novel. Maybe falling for her brothers best friend makes for interesting and funny text conversations. Have a read, your sure to like it.
