If you have read the Forgotten books from the start you will understand my headline. If you have read the previous entries in this series then the conclusion is satisfying.......mostly. M.R. Forbes has a knack for drawing you into his characters and making you care about them. Caleb is up there with The Sheriff and I can’t wait for what I hope is the inevitable meeting between the two.
I have read all the books of the forgotten worlds and enjoyed the different series immensely. This was the best book of this series coming to an enjoyable and understandable conclusion. The middle books lost intensity but this brought it back again.
(Kindle Unlimited - Mar 2019.) Now this is an extremely satisfying conclusion to this series of Mr. Forbe's 'Forgotten Universe'. It brings together various threads that have been dangled. It is, to me, superior in its writing to that of books 2 and 3. (See my reviews for them.) A few ideas about this 'Forgotten Colony' series: I really liked the alliteration in title choices. I think that with all the unnecessary militaristic repetitions of book 2, that books 1 and 2 could have been combined into one book of about 450 pages. The inconsistencies of book 3 need to be removed. I like the idea that Mr Forbes put forward in his postscript that he has used a multi-pronged/series approach to his 'Forgotten Universe' so that a reader could be satisfied reading just one or two of the series. I will read his 'Forgotten Earth' books. Series rating overall: FOUR STARS. Highly recommended.
This is a no brainer 5 stars from me. I just love this series and the rest of the other series in this universe. I cant wait for the next book, I have a feeling some of my favorite characters will be crossing paths and the story will be epic!
