Erin is eleven when her whole world implodes! Now eleven years later, her life isn’t what or where she thought it would be and when another life changing event occurs, it almost brings her to her knees. The one person she never thought would be back in her life pushes himself back in and she fights against it and him.
Ward left Scotland eleven years ago, for reasons he can’t tell but also some he can’t refute. Now, he’s back to help his best friend that he left behind years ago and has to confront the one woman he thought would treat him with anger but what he gets isn’t what he expected!
This book was a massive roller coaster of emotions, from sadness (yes, keep the tissues close by) but also to heartbreak, fear and even love 💕 This is by far one of my favourite reads for this year and I hope you love it as much as I did❣️
5 stars! Loved it! Another amazing standalone novel by L.A. Casey. Steamy, tragic, twisted, funny and full of love. When I woke up this morning I have never been so happy to be sick in my life to miss work and dive right into the story of Ward and Erin. It honestly took me a while to get some of the thick Scottish words that were used...not an issue, it made the book incredibly interesting (...and then again, some people would struggle with Australian words). So excited for what happens next!
amazingly well written with so much heart and complexity. This book had so many ups downs. I laughed and I cried. They all experienced such hardship and tragedy yet with Tommy, Erin, Aiden and Jesse there was some amazing examples of love and family. Erin and Tommy were truly inspirational siblings so loyal, dedicated and protective of those they loved.
Erin deserved to have someone who truly loved her and was there for her. I wasn’t sure that was going to be Ward but he was there for her in the end and once you understood his secrets, his behaviour made more sense. I felt so sorry for him and loved Erin’s reaction and defensive of him after finding out his secret.
This had me on the edge till the end. I honestly feel wrung out but this book took me on an amazing journey and whilst I would have liked things to be different for Tommy, I was glad Erin ended up finding her happiness with Ward.
“make every second with those you love worthwhile, because we never truly know how long we have in this life”.
There are some stories that grab a piece of heart and don’t let go, and there are very few stories that take a piece of your soul and never give it back. This is one of those very rare times. I don’t think I even have the right words to properly express just how profound and achingly beautiful this was to me. It was tragic, raw and so very emotional. It deals with terrifying issues of love, loss and such harrowing heartbreak that every word I read made such a ache in my chest it was sometimes hard for me to breath. I cried so much and felt massive amounts of sympathy for all the characters involved.
I refuse to give any of the story away because I truly believe this is one you really have to experience for yourself and see through your eyes that even though life is sometimes tragic and Down right not fair , there is also hope, perfect love and a happiness you could never dare wish for yourself . The emotional roller coaster you will experience reading this is very real and sometimes will seem like too much, but trust me it’s a book you will not be able to tear your eyes away from.
Erin Sanders and Ward Buckley.... the two main characters... that’s all you need to know and that’s all I’m going to give you because anything else I could say about them, would really not do them any justice. You will fall in love with them just like the other family /friends mentioned. Just do yourselves a favour and get a copy today. You will not be disappointed you did. it’s my favourite read this year.
LA Casey, you have really outdone yourself with this brilliant story and its evident you put all your heart and soul into it, it bleeds through every word and can be felt though every emotion described. To come from such outstanding writing of the ‘Slater Brothers’ series to this, shows how magnificent you are, your talent holds no bounds and I feel so very blessed and honoured that you share your special words and stories with the world. If I could give this more than 5 stars and I would. I Loved every second of her lifeline and can not wait to see what’s in store next. Bravo and congratulations, you deserve it all.
Erin had a crush on her brother Tommy's best friend Ward she was only 11 but her heart was broken when he walked away. He walked away with an idea that belonged to both him and Tommy but he is the one that implemented it and now he is an extremely wealthy man (loyalty I don't think so). When Tommy is seriously hurt in a car accident Wade returns and tries to make amends (too little too late). Can they forgive him for what he did Will her childhood crush develop into ,ore Can this be called a second chance Oh no a 11 year old crushing on a 19 year old is not the first romance. I did get frustrated with this book Wade was a A...hole but they so quickly forgave him maybe I just hold grudges
After saying that it was a good read that I thoroughly enjoyed
. Everyone that knows me knows how much I love all of LA Casey’s books so when I saw this I new I had to read it ASAP, and let’s just say She has made me love her more. This book was different to her other ones but I loved it just as much. Her writing draws you in you feel like you are right there experiencing everything with these characters. This book was one hell of an emotional roller coaster that’s for sure btw you’ll need tissues not going to spoil it but it’s a story of second chances , of forgiveness and also of heartbreak and all in between finding true love. LA Casey every time I read your books I say the same thing you’ve done it again you’ve written another must read. Cannot wait to see what you write next .
After reading the Slater brothers I didn't think anything could compare but I just got my heart blown to pieces by L.A Casey. Secrets, lies, abandonment, death and redemption. I can not give you a more heart wrenching book recommendation if I tried.
I enjoyed this book so much ,the main characters where all loveable and with so many twists and turns in the story it was hard to stop my emotional rollercoaster congratulations l.a case y this book is worth far more then 5stars P.s a box of tissues is a must with this book
She's done it again without the Slater brothers. Your unique language and character quirks always bring the characters to life. An amazing story of life, love and loss. Look forward to reading the next book
A must read! Very well put together, a roller coaster of events with some heart breaking ones at that. Took a bit of re-reading a few lines with the Scottish slang, but it makes the book what it is. Very big fan of your books and this one didnt disappoint.
