As always Michael Connelly delivers a great read that you can’t put down until you finish the epilogue. Combining Renee Ballard and Harry Bosch makes for a great read combining a number of cases into a great whodunnit that you won’t guess until the end. Highly recommended.
I tried and I tried to make it last but once again I just couldn’t wait for the next page, and the next page until I made it to the end. Then I realise that I have to wait another year (maybe less - ever hopeful) until I can read another exciting book by Michael. And, yes, I love Renee’s character..... gutsy, intuitive and I’m sure there are lots of stories waiting to be told about her.
Bringing together two characters like Bosch and Ballard was inspired. I've read Bosch books since they first started and he remains a complex, flawed and wonderful character. He and Ballard share some key characteristics and also complement each other. I love the detail, the character arcs, the overarching story that brings them together and the nail-biting climax. Connelly is one of the best at writing this genre, and this is one of his best. Stunning.
Ballard and Bosch meet as Bosch tries to solve the cold case murder of the daughter of his long term project Elizabeth. Connelly writes so well and drags you along. Another great book. A slightly different and darker Bosch has arrived and I am waiting on the next book to see where this goes.
