Mystery murder and magic in the Yorkshire Hills
23 September 2018
The most delightful parts of this seriez by JR Ellis are the enigmatic implausible puzzles the detective team have to solve and the setting of Yorkshire, its villages, stately homes and landscapes of beauty and terror. The first book explores the cave systems when a body unexpectexly turns up in an almost impossible location. But Oldroyd and his team of Andy and Steph work hard to unravel the mystery, not only of how the body ended up where it did but why it did and who did it. An ecxiting read. The second book, The Quartet Murders explores another conundrum: how did a sniper get into the music hall, kill the cellist and escape unseen. Once again, Oldroyd and his team are up to the task. The third book explores yet another puzzle: how did a murderer escape a locked room during a magic trick watched by dozens of people, including Oldroyd and Steph. Fun reads if you like who dunnits and love the opportunity to explore and learn about diffetent, compelling landscapes and the people who inhabit them.
