Make sure you are in the right mindset...
21 July 2018
I’ve read a few Lucy Dawson psychological thrillers and she just keeps growing on me... her characters are morally flawed, obsessive and yet you sympathise with them in equal measure as you loathe them...
From the very beginning I was hooked; I finished it in hours because it was so addictive.
Firstly, ‘The Daughter's’ premise was crazy scary, the twisted idea of punishing someone for losing their child it would appear on the surface to be a classic murder mystery novel when in fact it is more of a psychological look at the effects of guilt, obsession, and grief. The book opens immediately jumping to the death of Jess' daughter - and will then leave you emotionally drawn to it.
But be warned - It's painful, disturbing, endearing, and comforting all wrapped up together. Make sure you are in the right mindset before starting on the journey of ‘The Daughter’.
