I live in an older terrace home that has some light switches placed in some odd and unhelpful places. These wireless kits were an amazing solution to add light switches to more intuitive locations without having to rewire a thing. The complete set up process takes about the time to screw in a lightbulb, and it works straight out of the box without any other Philips products (works with or without the bridge). I was actually very surprised at the range of the remotes and was able to turn a second story light on and off from downstairs. I would recommend for anyone that needs to add extra light switches but doesn't want to do any electrical work.
Bonus tip: You can purchase extra individual dimmer switches and sync multiple to one bulb. This was super helpful to have more than one light switch control certain light fixtures. For example, I added one light switch at the bottom of the stairs to turn the lights on at the top of the stairs and another switch by the bedroom so that I wouldn't need to navigate blind in the dark when trying to go down the hall to bed.
Philips hue is the way to go if you are serious are about changing all your lights in your house to smart lights. Yes, there is in an initial cost of a hue hub/bridge, but as it use zigbee there is less strain on your wifi network, with instant on/off.
