Orphan X (An Orphan X Thriller)

The people that recommended it to me said they were unable to put it down. I struggled to keep reading it because I wasn't sure it was worth the effort. There was something about the writing style that annoyed me. There were sections that I skimmed like the overly detailed explanation about his weapons. The main character is socially awkward which surprised me a bit. I would have thought that being an assassin blending in would be important.

Enjoyed this on a flight to Singapore. Although the kid/mother/elderly residents combo wore a little thin as the 'humanity' foil for the main character Evan Smoak, Evan was interesting and engaging enough to carry me through to the end.

I'll be purchasing the next book to see where the character development heads. Nice work.

I’ve now read two Orphan novels. Both had very good plots and character development. I will definitely be reading the rest of this writers books.

A top read. This is one of those books that is so easy to pick up and read. The plot has potential to lead the reader anywhere. Who’s the real target? Who can the Nowhere Man trust? He’s helping two people at the same time, which goes against all his training and his code of ‘One mission at a time.’ But can he trust either of them? If not, they are really, really good at deception. There are no tell-tale signs. On top of all this there’s a possible love interest. It could work out, but how can he let someone else into his world?
Whatever happens the reader is sure right from the beginning that this book is heading for an explosive climax. But against who?
Anyone who loves a protagonist who is daring and audacious, who uses intense force to resolve other people’s crisis’s, who works completely alone, who infiltrates dangerous situations with ease, who is a weapons expert and who is exceptionally resilient and destructive, yet who can blend into the background with ease, will just love Orphan X

Good luck putting this book down after you start reading it...it's a rollicking great adventure read. Highly recommended if you like Reacher novels.
