Funny, clever, warm-hearted. This is a delightfully quirky story about family, love and identity. Not quite a memoir, Jeannette Winterson spins a heart-felt and sometimes tragic 'coming of age' tale interweaved with myths and fairy tales. While I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I'm not sure if - not having a religious background to draw on - I may have missed something in translation. There were definite points in the story where I was more confused than engaged and I found most of the secondary characters a little two dimensional at times.
