Set up your Amazon account for Australia or New Zealand to receive Alexa features that are tailored for your country.

Before You Change Your Country Settings

Be aware of the following before updating your country settings to Australia or New Zealand:

  • Amazon Echo (1st Generation), Echo Dot (1st Generation), Echo Show (1st Generation), and Amazon Tap are not supported.
  • Smart Home:
    • Check that your smart home device is compatible with Alexa in Australia or New Zealand.
    • Smart home devices that are already set up must be reconfigured.
  • Skills:
    • Any previously enabled skills reset and require you to enable them again.
    • Skills linked to 3rd party accounts reset and require you to sign in again for security purposes.
    • Personal skills made using Skill Blueprints remain linked to the country they were created in, and will not transfer over.
  • Alexa Routines, lists, and alarms are reset and must be set up again.
  • Alexa features with 3rd party account linking, such as calendars and music subscriptions, require you to sign in again for security purposes.

To Update Your Country Settings

The following steps ensure that your Amazon account is set up for Australian or New Zealand:

  1. On your computer, go to Manage Your Content and Devices.
  2. Click the link titled Go to the Manage Your Content and Devices page at Amazon.com (or other Amazon site).
  3. Click the Settings or Preferences tab.
  4. Under Country Settings, click Change.
  5. Select or enter your Australian or New Zealand address, then click Update.
  6. If you are eligible to purchase digital content from another Amazon website, follow the on-screen prompts to learn more about what happens when your account is updated.
  7. If prompted, sign in again, and go to Your Devices.
  8. Select your device and Deregister it.
  9. After your device resets, follow the instructions from the device to reregister it.
