Pair Your Mobile Device with Your Echo Device

Compatible Echo devices are Bluetooth-enabled so you can stream popular audio services from a mobile device (such as your phone or tablet).

Before you begin

  • Disconnect any other Bluetooth devices from your Echo device. Echo devices can only connect to one Bluetooth device at a time.
  • Set your mobile device to Bluetooth pairing mode.
  • Make sure your mobile device is in range of your Echo device.

Note: Echo devices can't receive phone calls or other notifications from your mobile device and can't read your text messages.

To pair your mobile device with your Echo device:

  1. Say, "Pair." Alexa lets you know that your device is ready to pair.

Note: To exit Bluetooth pairing mode, say, "Cancel."

  2. Open the Bluetooth settings menu on your mobile device, and select your Echo device. Alexa tells you if the connection is successful. You are now ready to stream audio from your mobile device to your Echo.

To disconnect your mobile device from your Echo, say, "Disconnect."

After you pair your mobile device, you can immediately reconnect your Echo device to your mobile device. Turn on Bluetooth on your mobile device, and then say, "Connect."

Note: If paired with multiple devices, your Echo device connects to the most recently paired device.
