About Our Returns Policies

You can return most items fulfilled by Amazon AU within 30 days of receipt of delivery if you change your mind. Use this page to learn about our change of mind return policy. This change of mind return policy is in addition to, and does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law including any rights you may have in respect of faulty items. Please see our Returning Faulty Items policy for more information. Third party sellers on Amazon.com.au are expected to offer returns on an equivalent basis but their policies may vary.

Amazon AU Change of Mind Return Policy

You may return most new, unopened items fulfilled by Amazon AU within 30 days of receipt of delivery for a full refund of the price you paid for the item if you change your mind - see About Refunds. Unless otherwise stated, original shipping fees for change of mind returns are not refunded. However, you may be eligible for Free Return shipping.

Some items have different policies or requirements associated with them for change of mind returns. See below, under the item-specific headings, for further details. You will see specific returns information for each item you purchase in the Returns Support Centre. Please also check the details for items that are not returnable.

Conditions applying to change of mind returns

Unless otherwise stated in this Policy:

  • All item packaging, documentation (boxes, manuals, warranty cards, etc.) and certificates of authenticity, grading, and appraisal must be returned with the returned items. Packaging must be unopened and seals intact (where applicable).
  • Items must be in new and unworn condition.
  • Any items that, because of customer negligence, misuse or tampering are, damaged, missing parts or in unsellable condition, will not be accepted for return.
  • Any item(s) that have been resized, damaged or otherwise altered after delivery will not be accepted for return.

Amazon AU is not required to accept change of mind returns on items outside the specified return window or change of mind returns of items that do not comply with this Policy.

These conditions apply only to change of mind returns and do not apply to items that are returned because they are faulty.

We've extended our returns window for Christmas

Normally you have a 30 day window to return items. To make things easier over Christmas, we're extending the timeframe. You will have until midnight 31 January to return any eligible items that you buy and are sent out between 1 November 2018 and 31 December.

Our returns policy will revert to the standard 30-day period for items sent after 31 December, 2018.

This extension applies to:

  • Items sold and fulfilled by Amazon AU
  • Items sold by third parties that Amazon AU fulfills.

Shipping

For change of mind returns of item(s):

  • Eligible for Free Returns, please see that policy for instructions on how to ship these items back to us - original shipping fees will not be refunded.
  • Not eligible for Free Returns, you are responsible for any return shipping costs. If your item is eligible for and is returned using a pre-paid return label, a return shipping fee of $7 will be deducted from your refund amount. Alternatively, if you use the self ship label, you are responsible for paying the cost of return shipping.

Look for the "Free Returns" messaging on the detail page of an item to confirm if it is eligible for free returns.

Baby Items

Change of mind returns of baby items fulfilled by Amazon AU will qualify for Free Return shipping if the item detail page includes "Free Returns" messaging.

Most baby items fulfilled by Amazon AU can be returned for change of mind within 90 days of receipt of delivery, unless they are non-returnable items. Note: Breast pumps returned for change of mind must be unused in their original condition with the factory seal and packaging intact.

Clothing, Jewellery, Shoes, and Watches

30 days Free Returns shipping is applicable for change of mind returns of items of clothing, jewellery, shoes, and watches fulfilled by Amazon AU if the item detail page includes "Free Returns" messaging. Eligible items are to be returned within 30 days of receipt of delivery.

Jewellery items with a value of $35 or more must be returned using a trackable shipping method.

Digital Items

Amazon AU is not the seller of digital items. Please see About Digital Products Returns and Cancellations for more details about returns and cancellations of these items.

Electronics and Amazon Devices

New electronic items and Amazon devices (for example Kindle and Echo) fulfilled by Amazon AU can be returned for change of mind, for a full refund of the purchase cost of the item within 30 days of receipt of delivery.

Gift Cards

Gift Cards are not returnable for change of mind after purchase (except as required by law). For more information about Gift Card limitations, see Amazon.com.au Gift Card Terms & Conditions.

Grocery Items

  • Grocery items are not returnable to Amazon.com.au but may be refunded depending on the circumstances.

Pet Food

  • Pet food and similar products are not returnable to Amazon.com.au, but may be refundable depending on the circumstances.

Non-Returnable Items

Certain items (such as hazardous materials and food) are not returnable to Amazon AU. A full list of non-returnable items is available here. In some circumstances, these items may be refundable (for example, if you receive the wrong item due to an Amazon AU error or if the item is faulty). For refunds of these items, please Contact Us.

Seller Return Policies

For items ordered on Amazon.com.au from a seller that fulfils and ships its own inventory (also called a third party seller), any returns will be in accordance with the returns policy set by that seller (not the Amazon AU returns policies). Whilst sellers are expected to offer a returns policy equivalent to Amazon AU, the seller returns policies may vary. Seller returns policies do not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, including any rights you may have in respect of faulty items.
