Authorisations reserve funds for an order until the transaction processed or the authorisation expires.
Some banks call authorisations "pending" or "processing" charges. After an order is placed, Amazon contacts the issuing bank to confirm that the payment method is valid. Most banks hold these authorisations up to 7 business days. If you are using a prepaid card, authorisations may be held for a longer period of time. Please contact the issuing bank for more information on their specific policies regarding authorisations.
When you place your first order with us we may contact the issuing bank to confirm that the credit/debit card is valid, and hasn't been reported as lost or stolen. This may appear as a $1.00 authorisation hold on your bank statement or card, but isn't an actual charge that is processed.
