How to Keep your Amazon Account Secure

Here's some tips to keeping your account secure. We'll also keep your account secure by alerting you to important changes or unusual activity on your account, and asking for a second way to verify your identity at these times.

Tips to keep your account secure

For extra account security, consider setting up Two-Step Verification.

We may send you security alerts:

  • About important changes to your account, or;
  • If we notice new activity we want to confirm with you. This might be because you've cleared your cookies, or you're signing in from a new browser, device, or location.

We'll ask you to verify it's you by:

  • Entering a verification code that we send to your email or mobile registered with us;
  • Answering a security question, or;
  • Responding to Amazon app push-notifications (make sure you turn on notifications).

If you're locked out, and you don't have access to your email or mobile, please contact us.

  • We'll only do this when you're trying to sign in, we won't contact you separately, unless you've asked us to.
  • If your account has been compromised, check other online accounts, like your email, for suspicious activity.
