I enjoyed this. It didn't require too much of me as a reader, and the action was intriguing enough to keep me guessing. I love the premise of terracotta warriors distributed throughout the galaxy in order to ward of some form of ancient evil.
There are definitely Mary-Sue elements in Lyra/Ara's character. What am I saying? Elements? She's a Mary Sue. Everyone loves her. You even got hints that her enemy, Jarren, was at least sympathetic towards her. Her boss "loves her like a daughter" and threatens to "tear [Jarren's] arms off" should any harm come to her. Her parents love her and support her, Niall is "in love" with her, she even manages to win over the rest of the security team with her awesomeness, despite the fact that they apparently hate her at the beginning of the novel because she's getting too big for her boots. And the Q-Net chose to communicate with her because she "shines" and she "helps."
That being said, this is a solid story and I am looking forward to the conclusion.
