This story is about domestic violence and how the physical and mental abuse is long lasting. Asher is a professional hockey player and is trying to get out of a long term abusive relationship when all hell breaks loose and the cops are called. Geoff who is the cop the handles the dispute has himself just come out of a long term abusive and manipulative relationship and spots the signs immediately of what is happening to Asher. Geoff continues to follow up with Asher to see how he is doing and soon they develop feelings for each other. Geoff is in his mid 40’s and Asher is mid 20’s so this is one issue they need to deal with. Both are very badly scarred from their ex’s and they both take a long time to develop trust again. I really loved these two characters and the topic of domestic violence was handled very well by the author. It is a well written story and Geoff and Asher help each other heal and develop a loving relationship. Highly recommend this book.
