EDIT: The company reached out to me and sent a new product over, great customer support. The warranty is 12 months, so if you run into any issues you will be able to get a guaranteed replacement device.
I have an Asus UX310UA, I did some research before I bought this product and confirmed that it should have worked. I bought it so I could use HDMI input for my monitor. I plugged it in and did some troubleshooting for around an hour and couldn't find a single issue.
I have used my USB-C port for my monitor before so it should definitely work. After giving up on the HDMI port I decided to use the USB 3.0. Both of the USB 3.0 ports didn't recognise my hard drive.
