I enjoyed this book, not as a fast moving story along the lines of previous Charlaine Harris vampire novels (the Sookie Stackhouse series) but rather more along the lines of her Harper Connelly books. Indeed, one of her characters comes from this series. Ms Harris spends a bit of time establishing her characters, and the town setting, so I think she is planning many more books in the future for this series. Witchcraft and a murder is more the theme here, although there is a slightly disturbing, possibly non-blood drinking vampire amongst the residents of Midnight. I will continue to follow this series in the hope that the storylines beef up a bit more, now that the characters are established. I really enjoyed the Harper Connelly books, and hope that this series becomes as interesting.
Anyone expecting blood and gore, and lots of sex will be disappointed. This is a whole lot gentler.
