Customer Review

It is hard to imagine the hardship involved when fleeing one's family, home and country. Kabul was colourful, harmonious and peaceful before 1980. Enjeela's description of her privileged family's fracture as the Taliban took control is heartbreaking. Her own escape via a torturous jagged route over many months is as amazing as it is courageous.
This was a book that I couldn't put down; I Ioved the description of Enjeel's privileged childhood, was held masterfully by her description of her escape and cried as the family was partially reunified in India.
