*Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.*Wow, just... wow! What a deliciously creepy booking, full of twists and turns and mysteries to solve. You can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family... and you certainly can't choose your in-laws. I have been a fan of Mark Edwards for some time and those that have loved his previous novels, such as 'Tha Magpies' and 'The Retreat' will not be disappointed. The book starts with an idyllic scene in an English garden and then just ramps up the action from there. Elliot falls in love with Gemma after she helps him out during an anaphylactic reaction to a bee sting and it seems to be love at first bite (see what I did there), because not much later, Gemma is moving in with Elliot and his beloved cat Charlie. Next thing, Gemma's parents and sister have come to stay and Elliot and Charlie's life has been turned upside down, as they are confronted with the in-laws from hell... who won't leave. I shan't write any more for fear of spoiling the plot, but what a great story. I can't wait to read what Edwards writes next.
