Customer Review

20 March 2019
Reading stories and essays by David Marr, written 10 or more years ago now gives you a different slant on things in 2018. His earlier criticisms of Prime Ministers Kevin Rudd and Tony Abbott are all too true nowadays. Many stories might be read for the first time as they were earlier printed in periodicals or given as lectures.. I read for the first time, the fascinating account of the funeral of Queensland Premier Sir Joh Bjelke Petersen.
His piece on biographers and how they should keep out of their stories had me a bit puzzled; a very famous 1959 biography 'Affectionately, FDR ' by James Roosevelt and Sidney Shelton included lots about James Roosevelt, because he was so closely involved in his father's life.
David Marr has a good grasp of Australian politics and whenever he appears on ABC show 'Insiders', always has forthright views.
