Let me start by saying that I am not a great fan of fantasy fiction, but I gave this a try because I felt like a change. It was an enjoyable read; the author has a pacy style with lashings of humour. She has created a fantasy world which I found easy to come to grips with. The main character, Lily, is a vampire-werewolf hybrid, which causes her problems when by default she becomes queen-elect of the shape shifters. I had previously tried reading supernatural romances and found them tedious, but this book is definitely a few steps up and I enjoyed it enough to go onto the second book, King Cave.
