Gritty story about a major disaster and how 2 women and their children cope. Sure Marlene can be a bit of a bitch and her sister-in-law Joni is a bit of a new age doormat, but they're a product of the lives they have led and it was interesting to see how they managed in the face of adversity. Charlie was a great little kid and Billy was only 3 after all. I preferred not to be too judgmental because who knows how any of us would behave in the face of a disaster like that. I liked that they weren't perfect. The analogy to major disasters in 3rd world countries was very apt. The end was a bit disappointing, but didn't distress me too much.
