When I buy a cheaper book I expect lower quality. That's not the case with 'Highland Fire'. It's an excellent adventure-romance that I would recommend to anyone looking for solid entertainment. However while the adventure is strong and compelling, the romance is a bit weaker.
Lili's father kills the chief of a wild tribe who put a death curse on Lili's future husbands. Now a widow with a small son, Lili is used as a Trojan horse by her ruthless father. He marries her to to new chieftain Aiden, assuming the curse will kill Aiden off.
Lili struggles to gain acceptance from her new tribe. The wild clan are described vividly and their culture is one of the fun things about this book. Less fun is a pooing contest that made me bring up my lunch. Lili struggles with choosing her son's life over her husband. It's pretty gripping.
