Too messy, crowded, busy, predictable and tedious. I like novels in which I am drawn into a character with whom I can gradually associate myself or I am carried by an idea that grows and sinks slowly. In this one there was a character early on, and I thought I would love the book because of her story, but she vanished. There was an idea, a noble one indeed (art survives) but it was lost in the jungle of the plot.
I was also irritated by exhaustive unnecessary repetitions, too much and too many of coincidences, detailed, lengthy and obvious descriptions that left nothing to the reader's intellect. I am sorry but honestly this book didn't work for me.
