Lady Augusta back in London for the season, her mother has just informed her that her father has chosen her husband for her. When Augusta and Stephen first meet they do not really make a good impression to each other. The betrothal papers are signed but not delivered. When his brother dies he becomes the Marquess. Circumstances and pride kept them from seeing the true person under the ‘ton’ glamour. Stephen is quite cruel to her when she tries to warn him of the ton and of all the attention that they are paying him. Overhearing a plot against Stephen she tries to warn him to protect him. I loved this story, Rose Pearson has written an story that is full of detail of the scenery, ritual and dialogue of the era. The complex relationship between Augusta and Stephen is revealled through their POVs and is slowly revealed as their feelings change towards each other. I loved the mystery of the story and how it was revealled, each secret layer being revealled. This story has such a pride and prejudice theme and i looked forward to the story unfolding. I always look forward to Rose Pearson stories as they are so well written, with interesting plots, and characters and HEAs!
