I really enjoyed this. I enjoyed seeing the young versions of Marilla, Matthew and Rachel. And of course John Blythe, so much like his son. Marilla was kind of bitter towards John's wife, which I didn't like because how could any woman who raised Gilbert Blythe be less than awesome? ;) I really enjoyed the use of Canadian history and the American Civil War. It was very interesting. I would love to see a sequel of Marilla's point of view once Anne joins the family, especially her view of Gilbert and Anne's relationship with him. The only thing I found odd was no mention of the Fletchers. In Anne of the Island it says that Mrs Fletcher is Gilbert's aunt so either John or his wife have a sister.
