Overall, the writing and story were reasonable, but various bits seemed so ridiculous that they got rather offputting. For instance, the Duke spends half his time evicting girls from places there should have been no way in the world for them to get to - like his bedroom. With the number of servants he had, he should have been able to avoid such things with no trouble. Not one that I'll be reading again, and I probably wouldn't bother with anything else by the author, but others might enjoy it. Clean, but with occasional objectionable language and blasphemy - just don't expect things to seem in any way logical.
