I don't often read historical LGBT literature. I do find it difficult to read due to the overarching views of the time. But I was recommended Magpie Lord and I've actually chatted to the author on Twitter about other things, so I decided to try it out. I ended up really enjoying it. I wasn't expecting to love it so much.
Now, I felt that there was a mid section that wasn't handled in the best way. It was a little confusing until you get the plot twist that explains it. I could see clearer ways to handle it.
But overall execution was great, chemistry between the characters was perfect, worldbuilding was on point, and the gothic creepiness of Piper was leaping out of the page.
