Is this the best book I've ever read, no far from it. Why then did I rank it five stars then I hear you ask. Because it did what any good non-fiction book should do, it gave me a real perspective on something I knew little about prior and got me thinking and discussing the Palestine/Israel issue in detail with friends. The author of this book has gone through unspeakable torment beyond what an average person like me could imagine and yet his attitude to life is simply amazing and commendable.
Did this book give me hope about the situation in Israel, no quite the contrary. But I take my hat off to the author for continuing to hope against all odds and I'm grateful to get a better understanding of the suffering the Palestine people go through and the extremism on both sides that is like a poison with no antidote.
