In this frank and open memoir, Shane recounts his life after an accident which left him a quadriplegic. As he explains, life is not fair which of course is a truism which we often refuse to acknowledge. I have not read before, such a detailed account of hospital recovery and rehabilitation from spinal cord injury. Shane’s background is that of a teacher of theology, and this intellectual endeavor has assisted him to reflect upon happiness. His love of his family, and their love of him shines through each page. As a person with disabilities myself, I am both humbled and encouraged by his words.
