The book documents a part of my life which never got to happen. Having been born and brought up in the same part of Northern England and shared an education at the same all girls school .Although at an earlier time than the author

The book reflects the career of a tertiary educated youngish, thirtyish ,professional, single woman who has to negotiate her way through a minefield of sexual politics for which there are no set rules.

In the sixties and seventies the search for a partner had extended to a later stage especially when the setting is in a capital city like London. What an opportunity to reinvent oneself A dangerous practice to say the least. The book deals with all these problems in the form of a day to day diary .A very engrossing format.
For me I married and left London in my twenties and went to live in Oz thus avoiding a very difficult period of a feminist search for identity
I bought the book to find out what I missed by leaving London at that time

Did B Jones find her Mr Darcy ? Read the book and find out.
