It's been a long time since I've read a good outback book. The last one I read was pretty dire so I was a little dubious reading this one because of it. However, it didn't take long for me to get into the story. It was such a relief to read a story where the characters are so well developed they're believable and actually likeable! I found Lucy irritating at times but it didn't detract from the story, it was who she was as a character. She had to grow and I really enjoyed reading about how she matured and come to realise her true self. If I had one little gripe it's that I wish Lucy had apologised to Garth rather than him having to do all the grovelling. I mean let's face it, she wasn't entirely in the right. But you know, that's picking at straws and it didn't ruin the story. Let's face it, the fact I cared so strongly about it is proof I really enjoyed the book. I'm really keen to follow the rest of the Prickle Creek series. Thanks for a great read!
