The story has a couple who are separated for over a decade because of the machinations of his evil mum. But the real stars of ‘Worth the Wait’ are Augusta’s interfering friends who do their best to manipulate Augusta and Hugh into a reconciliation. They are funny, annoying and conniving and they lighten up the emotionally intense story.
‘Worth’ has many qualities. The author takes a swipe at a judgmental society who decides to destroy Augusta after Hugh dumps her; so easy to blame a vulnerable female who is down on her luck. I also like the slow reveal of why Augusta won’t take a second chance on love - her reasons are so relatable. This book is short but funny and insightful. Very enjoyable reading.
