I love a good, easy to read, second chance romance and I'm particularly fond of Laurelin Page's writing so 'Sex Symbol' was perfect for me. Although a romance, it was a little different from other Laurelin Paige books I've read however I think it made me like its even more.
'Sex Symbol' was filled with lots of angst. This is the story of A-List actor, Micah Preston and aspiring film director, Maddie Beaur. A chance encounter in a dark corner of an indie film wrap party brings them together. They click instantly, however despite the chemistry it's not meant to be. Maddie is headed for an internship after film school graduation and Micah has just hit the big time and has no room for relationships or distractions.
The moment they shared when they first met was so intense that it has stayed with both of them. It set the pace for their chemistry in the book and kept me swiping madly. Fast forward Seven years and they are on the same film set. Maddie's career has hit some snags and she is still the lowly camera assistant. Micah's career, on the other hand, has skyrocketed.
Micah doesn’t believe a relationship in Hollywood can make it and Maddie, the hopeless romantic, doesn’t want to be another notch in the bedpost for this famous playboy. No matter how happy Maddie made him feel or how she reminded him of who he was before his fame... he'd become jaded, not knowing if women were interested in him for his fame or him. Can the camera assistant and the jaded movie star make a life together with all of Hollywood breathing down their necks?
This really was such a wonderful read. It was a refreshing and light but sweet and left a smile on my face - great escapism. Laurelin Paige delivers both the heat and the sweet in this tale of two people trying to find their way to love in a difficult environment. One-click it to find out if Maddie and Micah get their Hollywood style HEA. Please note, 'Sex Symbol' was previously published under the title 'Take Two'.
