I became an avid fan of Peter May through the Lewis trilogy some years ago, and while I haven't felt his later novels have lived up to those three gems, this one is a most enjoyable read.

The setting on Harris is wonderfully portrayed (one of May's key strengths) and the core of the plot, a man who can't remember who he is and therefore can't protect himself from those who seem to want to kill him, is well done.

As usual with May's novels set in the Outer Hebrides, it also sent me off on a quest to learn more/
