One of Scott Adams' key ideas is that several ordinary abilities can add up to something extraordinary. Unfortunately, this underwhelming book is very much the sum of its very mediocre parts. If you're already a competent adult, his advice on health, fitness, psychology, and interpersonal skills will feel insultingly basic. And that would be fine, if those prosaic observations added up to something profound - but I wasn't persuaded. Adams is insightful and compelling in his blogs and comics - maybe long form stuff just isn't his forte. Chalk it up to another failure on the road to success?
