You sit down and read this book and you realise just how innocent yet how brave these women were. They had many reasons for going to war ranging from just wanting to do their duty to running away from demons but each one in their own way is a hero. I know they will hate being called a hero but they were and they witnessed events that no person should have to. It is amazing that it took the Australian government so long to recognise their work in Vietnam and thankfully they did although at what mental cost I can't imagine. The book also tells the story of several Amry medics who under the most difficult circumstances managed to bring some sanity to a war that was out of control. The comfort these men and women gave to soldiers was way beyond the call of duty.
