Customer Review

I couldn't close my Kindle on The Good People. It was mesmerising. It’s lyricism pulled me in from the first page, the lilting Irish cadences rarely faltered. The characters’ mix of kindness and cruelty, and their beliefs arose so naturally from Hannah Kent's portrayal of their harsh lives and illiteracy. I can't help thinking now . . . is there an echo of these tragedies, beliefs and struggles even in our modern state of plenty? Highly recommended for anyone who likes good writing and unusual historical fiction.
