A long book for a long case. This is the horrific story of a killer who managed to evade detection for over 20 years. A lot of time Is spent on the background of the victims which heightens the horror of each murder. But ultimately I came away with a sadness for the number of women who found themselves in such bad circumstances that their choices had lead them into such danger. As much a comment on US society as on the killer himself. Reading this is not an act of voyeurism, rather an honouring of the women who were killed, their families who grieve and the work done by law enforcement to bring them peace and justice.
