I picked this up on a recommendation and during Nanowrimo season and I'm so glad I did. I had never heard of the beat sheet before but as I read through the book, I realised that I had instinctively created certain scenes to match certain beats but had missed out other scenes that I needed to round out the story. It also really helped me with pacing my story properly as with one particular scene, I was struggling about whether it should appear earlier or later in the story. Using the methodology of this book, I found the right place for it. I really also like that this book uses contemporary literature examples to illustrate her points. I've read a lot of other novel-writing books and very few have offered such a clear and easy to follow structure that can be used by beginners and seasoned authors alike. I highly recommend it.
