Cos you're gonna need it! There are so many tips & tricks in this book, you'll want to keep notes as you can't help but brainstorm ways to implement them into your own site.
I thought this would just be another one of those common sense website design books, but this is top shelf stuff!! With every chapter I thought to myself, "I can't believe they're giving this all away".
Absolutely love it. You'd be stupid not to buy it at this price.
I've been building and operating websites for just over 15 years, so I've dabbled in conversion rate optimization throughout. However, much of this has been 'unstructured', just working on parts of the website as I think they need attention. When I first heard about this book I really wanted to get my hands on it, as I'd been following CRE for years. For me, the warm up act was the 70 pages of techniques for understanding your visitors and what they're doing (Section 2), but the icing on the cake - and the real trade secrets for getting any website to perform well - are in Section 3. 150 pages of expert, actionable advice. If you have a website that's crucial to the success of your business, an investment in this book could give you the best ROI you've ever seen!
About 9 years ago, I started working with Conversion Rate Experts.
This is the company who coined the term "Conversion Rate Optimisation" and they taught me a hell of a lot about how to make websites that win. It's very different from how most people approach website design.
At the time, the founders started talking about writing a book to share their methods.
Last week, they finally finished it – it's out!
I had the chance to read a pre-release copy and can confirm that — yes — they're giving away all their secrets.
If you need to know more...
Part 1 covers what CRO is and why it's important (it's not what many people believe it is).
Part 2 reveals all the techniques the team use to get a deep understanding of customers and to diagnose the problems with a website.
Part 3 gives you a boatload of ideas for "treatments" to tackle common diagnoses. The secrets of how to turn your site into a "water chute of customers"
Part 4 is a case study about a FinTech product. They've redesigned the website, the product app, and even the letters – not with a "big bang" approach like a lot of teams mistakenly take, but systematically and based on evidence.
In full disclosure, Let me preface by saying that I have worked with Ben and Karl at CRE in the past … and although there were talks about a book release, I never thought it would come to pass. However, like all their promises, they DELIVER! And boy, have they delivered here. It’s impossible to put a value on a book like “Making Websites Win”. I’ve been privy to seeing the results they deliver for clients and “doubling” a business that is already doing 7-figures a year? Well, you decide on the value. This book is their condensed knowledge (in impeccable detail) – so other’s can do this themselves. If any other marketing 'top-gun' in the IM world had their kind of knowledge, expertise, experience and RESULTS – they’d package it up, deliver it as a digital course or coaching program and slap a price of $2,997+ on it. These guys are not interested in making another revenue stream like that. They have a bigger, better agenda in mind – attracting the best talent and staying on top of the CRO pedestal ... where they truly belong. Fantastic book. Easy to follow. Will be read repeatedly and maintain prime position next to my copy of Eugene's “Breakthrough Advertising”.
I've been following Conversion Rate Experts for years. This book is a distillation of all their wisdom about how to make websites that achieve their objectives. It makes me want to share the book with all of my colleagues and do a show-and-tell session about it. I'd love for my company to build websites with your philosophy: focus on conversions. I've been reading it long past my bedtime. It's clearly written in simple, readable language (just like a good landing page!). Some of the content feels familiar because it's a compilation of their great website content, but it flows really well from section to section, so it doesn't feel like a cobbled-together book. If you care about helping your organization be better at what it does online, you should read this book. And then encourage all your colleagues to read it, too.
I have worked in marketing for 15 years and I have read over 50 books on the subject. This is one of the best.
Too many marketers make decisions about their websites based on gut feel or what looks good to them personally. They forget that they are not the intended audience of their website and so they just keep making underwhelming or ineffective changes to their site.
This book shows you how to use data-driven insights to make measurable improvements to your site (actually your whole marketing funnel) so that you can generate more leads / increase sales. It's smart and measurable and intelligent and the book is written in a way that makes it very easy to read and understand.
Reading this book and implementing the strategies will give any marketer the competitive advantage they need.
Well written companion book that would aid new or advanced users, in the processes of marketing your website to the right audience to monetize and sell your product.
